Being a mom in today’s world isn’t easy. We’re expected to do it all - raise kids, build careers, manage households, and somehow keep it all together. Honestly, I used to worry that becoming a mom would slow down my career. I wondered if I could still chase my ambitions while embracing the beautiful chaos of motherhood.

But my journey at Accedo has shown me that I don’t have to choose. Instead of holding me back, my company has always had my back, giving me opportunities and support that have made all the difference.

The early challenges

Becoming a mom was life-changing in the best (and most exhausting) way. But it also came with a lot of self-doubt. I constantly questioned whether I was doing things right - both as a parent and as a professional. The confidence I once had in myself felt shaky, and I wasn’t sure how I was going to balance everything.

What I’ve learned is that no season lasts forever, and having the right people around you makes all the difference. Accedo has been that support system for me, with colleagues and leaders who truly get it.

A workplace that gets it

One of the best things about working at Accedo is the flexibility. Their Flex model and remote work options have been game-changers. I was lucky enough to take eight months of maternity leave to soak in those early days, and when I returned, I didn’t have to choose between my career and being there for my family.

Working remotely helped me find that balance - especially during Covid when I had my firstborn and everything felt uncertain and scary. Being able to work from home meant I could be there for all the little moments without feeling like I was falling behind at work.

But more than the policies, it’s the people who have made this journey easier. I work with an incredible team - talented, kind, and always supportive. My managers and colleagues never made me feel like I had to prove my commitment just because I became a mom. Instead, they trusted me, which helped me trust myself again.

Growing in new ways

Accedo’s core values - Aspiration, Courage, and Trust - have taken on a whole new meaning for me since becoming a mom. Parenthood has deepened my perspective, and it’s changed the way I connect with my colleagues. I’ve had conversations I never expected, bonded over shared experiences, and become more empathetic not just to other parents but to anyone facing personal challenges.

Learning to let go of perfection

Looking back, my perspective on work-life balance has completely shifted. Parenthood is messy, exhausting, and full of curveballs. Some days feel impossible. But I’ve learned that it’s okay - not having all the answers doesn’t mean I’m failing. It just means I’m human.

Because of the support I’ve had at Accedo, I’ve been able to grow both as a professional and as a mom. And I hope more companies recognize how powerful it is when workplaces truly support their working parents. When that happens, we don’t just survive - we thrive.

So, to all the moms out there figuring it out day by day - you’re not alone. And to companies striving to create a culture that uplifts working parents: Keep going. It makes all the difference.
